If you’ve followed our Budget and Grow Rich® blog, you know that I got divorced in July 2007.
After that, truth be told, things were bleak. And I mean DARK!
I bounced back and forth between being out of work and underemployed – for SIX YEARS between 2005 through 2010. Painful!
My obligations to my ex-wife and three children were enormous – disproportionate to my income at that time! Daunting in fact.
If the divorce didn’t drown me, The Great Financial Crisis – The GFC – in 2008 did or nearly did!
Some might say my financial situation wasn’t pretty. I would say it was Downright UGLY!
What’s worse, I had lost hope.
Which believe me, was far worse than losing money!
I thought I’d never recover.
But I did and then More.

When I signed the Divorce Agreement in July 2007, I walked away with approximately $450,000, most of which was inside my 401(k) retirement plan. And. . .

YES, Just $6,000.00 and an aging Toyota Highlander that was in need of repairs and maintenance.
